All PC avid gamers and enthusiasts around the world who used to enjoy LAN competitions, parties and events lately received some bitter news from the ever-controversial Activision software company. Activision's latest super-idea for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2... just 17 days from its release have decided to present us with the 'BuzzKillington' achievement. Activision has all of a sudden decided to eliminate the dedicated servers from their next installment of Call of Duty due in 13th November. If this will indeed go through it will definitely anger the PC gamers and it will be a huge loss for the Call of Duty series.
One might recall the ever-growing presence in the number of clans who used to train on their private servers and then showing off their skills at a LAN party in order to win the Call of Duty Competition at all costs. The Call of Duty Series has always been a hit at LAN parties and has definitely help to increase the community support and interest.
What will be the faith of this game with the PC hardcore and casual gamers? Well, for the console players its business as usual but for the PC gamers, its a razor sharped knife plucked in the chest. Stopping dedicated servers will kill the community which to be honest, is quite large. If you would ask any gamer if he/she played Call of Duty Online on PC, almost everyone will say yes.
This decision came from Activision in order to provide a balance, anti-mod and anti-cheat proprietry servers. What I would say to Activision is that there are many legitimate servers with dedicated administrators to keep the game experience at the top. Why should everyone be punished? Also why does a gamer has to be forced to play on the Infinity Wards servers?
Ok maybe new players who have never played Call of Duty will have no chance to win against experienced players... but hey this is how people learn to evolve their gaming skills. Letting them play with people having their exact level of skill will not improve theirs.
Gamersnexus have started a petition which is going strong with its current count of 142,300 signatures. This thing has evolved into a full blown boycott against Activision and Infinity Ward. The boycott is quite simple and to the point...
If you are a PC gamer or a video game supporter, you may want to visit the boycott website on http://www.gamersnexus.net/component/content/article/47-newsfront1/228-mw2-boycott and sign their petition to get back the dedicated servers on the Call of Duty Series. Let your opinion be heard out loud!
